Hermon Community Primary School March to raise awareness and raise money

The parents and friends of the Pembrokeshire Primary School at Hermon will March through the major towns and villages of Pembrokeshire on Saturday the 20/09/03 to highlight the plights of thriving primary schools threatened with closure by the Local Education Authorities. The Hermon campaign has now received a landmark boost to its hope of ensuring a fair hearing for the parents views when the children of the school were awarded Legal Aid to challenge the locals councils consultation process. (The first school in Wales to receive Legal Aid for such a campaign)

The parents have been busy arranging fund raising events to ensure that the campaign has sufficient money to purchase campaign materials to ensure the maximum inhabitants of Pembrokeshire are made aware of the strength of feeling that the Communities of Hermon, Glog and Llanfyrnach have towards retaining their school.

The Campaign Tour and Town March will start at Hermon at 9.00am where the support indicated to date has resulted in further buses being required. The campaigners will march through Llandissilio, Clunderwen and Narberth before moving on to Hayscastle, Milford and Pembroke. During the afternoon the buses will move on to Haverfordwest, Fishguard and Eglwyswrw before returning to Hermon. The campaigners would welcome all support from the residence of the tows and villages on route and during the march we will have collection bucket to raise funds for the campaign.
