Annwyl
Aelod Cabinet
Ysgrifennaf
atoch fel cefnogwr brwd i Ysgol Gymunedol Hermon i ddatgan fy
ngwrthwynebiad chwyrn i’r bwriad i gau’r ysgol hon a
chreu ysgol ardal fawr ym mhentref Crymych. Gwn hefyd fod
llywodraethwyr, staff a holl rieni Ysgol Gymunedol Hermon yn gwbl
unfrydol na ddylid cau’r ysgol ar unrhyw gyfri.
Hoffem
ichi dderbyn copi o lythyr a danfonwyd i’r Cyfarwyddwr Addysg
ar ddechrau’r flwyddyn yma yn nodi yn fanwl fy mhryderon. Mae’n
bwysig ichi deall bod pentrefi Hermon, Y Glog a Llanfyrnach yn
bentref gyda nifer o deuluoedd ifanc yn ymgartrefu yma. Mae
datblygiad adeilad cartrefi newydd ar waith ar hyn o bryd yn y
pentrefi sy’n cefnogi’r ffaith bod Hermon, Y Glog a
Llanfyrnach yn bentrefi bywiog a llwyddiannus. Rhaid cofio hefyd bod
gan yr ardal hanes unigryw o Byllau Arian a Plwm yn Llanfyrnach a
hefyd y llechweddi yn Glog. Mae treftadaeth yma yn cael ei gadarnhau
yn addysgol o fewn yr ysgol.
Yn
Awst 2000 fe gafwyd Arolwg Cymunedol ei gomisiyni ar gyfer yr ardal
ble amgaeaf daflenni perthnasol er mwyn ichi ddeall bod cymuned hynod
o gryf o fewn dalgylch yr ysgol gynradd. Un o’r argymhellion
mwyaf yw cael canolfan gymunedol ger yr ysgol. Fe fydd y ganolfan ar
gael at ddefnydd yr ysgol a hefyd gan mae arian grantiau fydd yn talu
am yr adeilad ac am ei gynnal ni fydd angen fawr o arian y Cyngor Sir
i wireddu yr hyn sydd yn y ddogfen. Amgaeaf hefyd gynllun bras o’r
hyn sydd gennym mewn golwg.
O
gofio bod y gwaith o godi’r ganolfan mewn llaw a bod pensaer
wrthi yn cwblhau’r cynlluniau, hefyd bod perchnogion y Tir sef
y Cyngor Cymuned yn barod i arwyddo les am 99 mlynedd a hefyd bod y
Cyngor Sir wedi caniatáu adeiladu bron 40 o gartrefi newydd yn
ein pentrefi, fe fyddai argymell cau yr ysgol gynradd yn difetha y
cynllunio datblygu cymunedol a chymdeithasol yma ac yn codi nifer o
gwestiynau o’r ffordd y mae’r cyngor sir yn gweithio.
Dear
Cabinet Member
I
write to express my complete opposition to the proposed closure of
Ysgol Hermon and the County Council’s intention to build a
large area school in Crymych. The staff, governors and parents of
Ysgol Hermon are unanimous in their opposition to such a development.
I
enclose a copy of a letter sent to the Director of Education at the
beginning of this calendar year outlining in detail my concerns. It
is important for you to understand that the Villages of Hermon,
Glogue and Llanfyrnach have a large number of young couples and
families. There are also new housing developments within the
catchment area, which again confirms the continued growth of family
numbers in this lively and vibrant community. The community also has
a distinct heritage with the Lead & Silver mines in Llanfyrnach
and the once heavy industrialized Glogue Quarry; this heritage is
safeguarded by educating the local children in their community
school.
In
August 2000 a Community Appraisal was undertaken for the catchment
area where I enclose extracts from the document for you to appreciate
that there is an extremely strong community within the catchment area
of the primary School of Hermon. The main recommendation of the
appraisal is that a community facility center be built to cater for
all the growing community activities. The proposed site for this
development is next to the primary school. The new building would be
available for use by the primary school where all the building and
running costs would be sourced from grant funding and the community
where the cost to the County Council would be minimum. Please find
enclosed a copy of the draft plan for the new Community Centre.
I must
remind you that the committee developing the Community Centre is now
working the a dedicated architect in finalizing the plans, also the
owners of the site (the local community council) have confirmed in
writing that they will provide a 99 lease for the new building, and
finally I wish to note again that the County Council have agreed for
approximately 40 new houses to be erected within the catchment area.
Therefore to ratify any proposal to close Hermon School would
seriously jeopardize the community and social development for the
specific area of Pembrokeshire covered by Hermon, Glogue and
Llanfyrnach. In addition serious questions would have to be voice
across the county as to the County Officers and County cabinets
commitment to rural and community development and the methods applied
in hindering current development such as those in Hermon, Glogue and
Llanfyrnach.
Yn
Ddiffuant / Yours sincerely
