Launch of Hermon School Memorial Book & Heritage Display 

On Monday evening the 17/07/06 there will be an official launch of the Hermon School Memorial Book – Golwg ar Ysgol Hermon. The book has been compiled by Mrs Maureen George who taught at the school for over 30 years until the recent enforced closure of the full to capacity village school on the 30/06/06.

The book depicts the history of the school from when it was opened in 1879 to its closure a few weeks ago. The bilingual book is a hard cover 140 page quality publication and is available for sale at £5 each. The Launch of the book will be coordinated by the community in Hermon with a Cheese and Wine evening commencing at 7.00pm on Monday the 17/07/06.  

The community and parent of the children wish to thank PAVS for their grant funding under the SDF scheme and for the local sponsors who assisted with the printing costs. To date over 150 books have been pre-ordered by local people with many more interested enquires from across Wales. To ensure a reserve copy please telephone Mrs Maureen George on 01437532282

During the launch evening held at the Hermon School Site there will be a Heritage corner with people encouraged to bring along items of historical interest depicting the various decades of life in the catchment area of the school since it was built in 1879. The community wish to thanks PLANED for assisting with the development of a Heritage group for the area and any prospective new members of the Heritage group is more than welcome to turn-up for the evening’s activities.
