Hermon School Closure

Meeting to view the provisional plans for a new area school at Crymych

A set of provisional plans for the proposed new area school at Crymych were put on show at Y Lolfa, Ysgol Y Preseli. The plans showed a total of six classrooms which would give the school a capacity of 180. A hall was also shown which was joined up to the secondary school - this we were assured could be moved and made seperate from the senior school. An early learning centre was also tacked on to the other end of the buildings.

The tarmac 'playground' was shown as being behind the school buildings, keeping the children away from the vehicles at the front. The buildings would be extended in a South Westerly direction along the Hermon road which would mean the secondary school losing one of its Rugby pitches.

At the front of the school a number of the trees had been removed and parking spaces for 32 cars provided. It was pointed out that there was chaos with traffic at present and there was a proposed new block on the secondary school campus, with an estimated 200 pupils, 80 or so more pupils at the primary school and even more at the early learning centre.

The parents present were definitely not reassured.
